Excerpt Wednesday: "In the Woods of Memory" by Shun Medoruma

This week's excerpt comes from our upcoming novel, In the Woods of Memory by Shun Medoruma, which was featured in the latest issue of The Asia-Pacific Journal.

This passage, pulled from the first chapter of the novel, describes two related incidents that take place on a small island: the rape of a young woman, and a young man’s attempt to get revenge, events that take place in the middle of May 1945, during the Battle of Okinawa.
